The Parks and Recreation Department recently sponsored events for children to include Pumpkin Painting and Ornament Decoration.  We have slide shows of both events.  These are great opportunities for children to have fun outdoors and learn a craft.

Welcome to lufkinparks.com. The City of Lufkin Parks and Recreation Department has much to offer the citizens of Lufkin. There are seventeen city parks with various resources available. Facilities found at our parks include a zoo, miniature train, swimming pool, spray and play pads, playground and exercise equipment, multiple sports fields with stands and concessions, community centers and much, much more. The Parks Department also offers many programs for the young and young at heart. Spring programs include gymnastics, cheerleading, drill team, dance, ballroom dance, dance aerobics, dulcimer, and senior aerobics. Sports offered by the department are adult softball and basketball leagues and youth basketball leagues. We also provide links to sports provided by other organizations in our city.

The recently constructed Spray Play Pad at Jones Park is now officially open.  Mayor Jack Gorden and Councilmember Rose Faine Boyd did the honors on Tuesday, August 29.  The City met the goal of having it open this season, before the normal closing date of September 30th.  The new facility will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. daily, including weekends.  Our season will normally be May 1st until September 30th each year.
