fishersThe Park Maintenance Department is responsible for maintenance and operations of 16 City of Lufkin parks, 4 trails, 2 community centers, 1 swimming pool, 3 spray plays, one recreation center, and other public areas.

All community centers, pavilions, volleyball courts, and softball fields at Kit McConnico Park may be reserved by calling the Downtown Recreation Center at 936-633-0250. Reservations on most park facilities are free; however, there is a charge for using the community centers.

Chambers Park is one of Lufkin’s oldest park facilities. It has been updated with the new lighted tennis courts. The Community Center Rock House) is a great place for reunions, birthday parties and weddings. The park also offers a shaded spray play facility along with four pavilions. Chambers Park is a large wooded park with lots of picnic areas well suited for family and organizational activities. The park has been adopted by the Angelina Rotary Club and extensive renovation of the park was coordinated by the Lufkin Landscape Task Force.

Ellen Trout Park is one of Lufkin's premier park facilities. It has has one of the country's finest small city zoos, a miniature train, a beautiful lake stocked for fishing, and modern playground equipment. The park abounds with wildlife complimenting the zoo. There are lots of picnic areas well suited for family and organization activities. The new crushed granite walking trail that surrounds the lake offers benches for enjoying nature along the way.

Kit McConnico Park is one of two parks primarily dedicated to team sports. Kit McConnico Park has seven softball fields and eleven youth soccer fields. Restrooms and concessions compliment the area during league and tournament games. The Lufkin Bicycle Coalition continues to construct mountain bike trails in the park that depart from the southwest corner of the parking area near the maintenance building.

Kiwanis Park is rich with facilities. It has been updated with a new concrete skate park. The park also offers a spray play facility, disc golf course, tennis courts, basketball courts and a walking trail. Kiwanis Park is a large wooded park, centrally located with many picnic areas. It is an ideal park for family and/or organizational activities. Adopted by the Kiwanis Club, the park is home to the annual Community Cinco De Mayo Festival.

Louis Bronaugh Park, formerly City Hall Park, was renamed on June 6, 2006 after longtime Lufkin Mayor Louis Bronaugh. It is one of Lufkin's newest park facilities. It is located across Charlton St. from City Hall.

The park is an excellent facility for public ceremonies. The City of Lufkin, in conjunction with the Landscape Task Force dedicated the bronze eagle sculpture in Bronaugh Park on September 11, 2002. The the newly dedicated bronze eagle in Bronaugh Park was designed by Edd Hayes to memorialize all the people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

On October 25th 2013, The Lufkin Landscape Task Force dedicated the beautiful amphitheater to the City of Lufkin. The amphitheater has a historical mural on the back walls about the timber industry. Local artist, Byran Jones, painted the mural.
On February 1, 2004, the Lufkin Landscape Task Force hosted a Memorial service to commemorate the first anniversary of the Columbia disaster at Bronaugh Park. A memorial marker and flag were dedicated.

Morris Frank Park is one of two parks primarily dedicated to team sports. Morris Frank Park has excellent baseball, softball, and soccer facilities. It hosts Garrison Field, home baseball field for the Lufkin Panthers, for the Lady Panther Softball Team and the Lufkin Little League. In addition, the park is connected by a trail to the Wetland Garden and Outdoor Classroom.

The disc golf course is an 18 hole, tournament quality course with large concrete tee pads and new baskets. The unique design includes water hazards, long drives, and narrow throwing lanes through the beautiful wooded areas the course was built in and around. The course was funded by the Leadership Lufkin Class of 2014 through very generous sponsors, designed by the Lufkin Launchers, and constructed by the City of Lufkin Parks and Recreation Department.
